It is the theoretical approach to job satisfaction.
According to the theory, Satisfaction and Dissatisfaction are interdependent of each other and exist on a separate continuum.
One set of factor known as hygiene factors (company policy, administration, supervision, pay, working conditions and interpersonal relations) act as dissatisfier. Their absence causes dissatisfaction but their presence does not result in positive satisfaction.
Other sets of factors known as satisfier (achievement, advancement, recognition, work itself, and responsibility) lead to satisfaction.
It is found that same person can be satisfied and dissatisfied at the same time.
